SUMMER 2012

EDIT 526 Web Accessibility and Design (asynchronous)

One of the most challenging courses that I have taken so far in this program, mainly because of my lack of knowledge and understanding of web accessibility. The outcome was extremely beneficial. This course tought by both Kara Zirkle and Samit Vartak, gave me a clear understanding of the several universal web designs available for instructional designers. In the end, this program emphasized the importance of web accessibility for all audiences.

EDIT 772 Learning in Virtual Worlds (asynchronous)

This was my first course in my IDD program so I was extremely excited/nervous. The experience that I went through with this course was quite exciting because this course was pretty much a live video game. Overall, it was a new learning tool. This virtual world course, taught by Dr. Karen Cooper, guided me to examine different terminologies, skills, cultures, and strategies that promoted expertise and successful instruction. Additionally, each student develop a hands-on approach to virtual educational designs, investigate the risks and benefits of 3D environments.

EDIT 571 Adobe E-Learning (asynchronous)

Another exciting course taught by Heather Tillberg-Webb target mainly on Adobe e-Learning suite, Photoshop, Deamweaver, and Captivate. At the end of this course, I was able to undertand efficiently the different range of capabilities of design tools, develop design practices in creating design projects, and implement these tools to optimize usage.

EDIT 704 Instructional Technology Foundations and Theories of Learning (face-to-face)

This was my first face-to-face course at George Mason University. As a result, not only did it openned up to all aspects of learning and instructing, but also the theories behind it. Our instructor, Mrs. Karen Gardner, formulated a curriculum largely centered on the thinking (psychological) portion, which gave each student a great deal of time reading, analyzing the diction, structure, and theoretical arguments of instructional technology. After taking this course, I discovered that it is not only technology that it is critical to understand, but also the people involved with technology and how they use it in instruction. Additionally, all of the assignments, including the reflections, presentations, and discussions in the classroom openned up everyone's thinking styles.

EDIT 530 Scripting/Programming HTML 5.0 (asynchronous)

Instructor Betsy Klein did a phenominal job utilizing the features, elements, and attritubes of the web page markup language of HTML to design and publish a web-based product. At the end of this course, I was able to demonestrate an understanding of HTML 5.0 structures and elements by generating HTML coding.

EDIT 705 Instructional Design (asynchronous)

This course was the basic intro to my Instructional Design Program. Dr. Shahron Williams van Rooij did an excellent job guide us through this course. In depth, she essentially helped us analyse, evaluate, and apply different fundamental principles of instructional theory and design. As an end result, this course allowed me to create an IDD that provides a solution to an instructional problem.
